Drag Strap
Free Shipping for orders over $50 within the USA
The Drag Strap is the strap that wraps around the flywheel. Fits all wooden style Skiers: 505, 530, 550, Excel, Challenger, Sequoia, Limited, Pro, Achiever, Medalist, and Elite. Our dragstraps are the same exact material used throughout the 90's.
It's important to reverse your dragstrap to the other side every 6 months of use and to replace them every 2 years. After a couple years of use the dragstrap will become glazed and will no longer offer a stable tension.
It's incredibly important to have zero rust on your flywheel. If you have any rust on your flywheel it will chew up your dragstrap. To clean your flywheel remove the dragstrap, ski on your skier to get the flywheel spinning then apply a scotchbrite pad, or emery cloth, or steel wool on the flywheel groove area while its spinning. Then use a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol to wipe off the black dust. You may need to repeat the process until the flywheel is shiny again. NordicTrack skiers produced in 1990 til August of 1992 have a black Teflon coating on the area where the dragstrap rides. The coating was defective and will cause Achiever, Medalist and Elite skiers to increase their tension without you adjusting the tension knob. Its important to remove the coating or replace your flywheel with a machined one. Pro models and below were not really affected by the black coating.

Jack McCaffreyJan 7, 2022, 15:30My old drag strap was wrecked because I failed to follow the maintenance instructions. I won't make this mistake with the new one, which works perfectly.
